Gallien Krueger MB210 combo

Well the speakers blew out in my Hartke 2x10 combo during a soundcheck last week.  They were starting to rattle anyhow so it was due anytime.  The combo is a mix of 2 10" Hartke aluminum cone speakers and one of the new LH500 heads. It's pretty heavy so not the easiest thing to transport around.  I was thinking of replacement speakers for the combo when it crossed my mind to just shop around for something new.

When visiting my local music store this weekend I saw several brands of bass gear.  All good stuff like Ampeg, Mesa Boogie, MarkBass, Peavey, and finally Gallien Krueger.  GK has been around a long time but until recently I don't think I ever gave them a chance.  I found a high end six string bass on the wall comparable to my Peavey Cirrus USA and plugged it in to the GK MB210 combo.  This combo will put out 500 watts if you include an 8 ohm extension cab or the 2 10" Neodymium speakers onboard will handle up to 400 watts.  I was completely sold after thumping on the low B of the six string and hearing an absolute, clear, punchy note.  What was I waiting for all these years?  This thing rocks!  Plus it only weighs 33 pounds.  It's a bassist's dream to be able to walk into a gig with your bass in one hand, and having an amp in the other that's small, lightweight and will still rock the house!

So now the plan is, an MB210 combo with the 210MBE extension cab.  Perfect for the small clubs!
